The Place of Transgender People in Popular Culture

Yesterday, The Boston Globe featured an article in the TV section entitled "On TV, shows confronting transgender stereotypes." The author, Joanna Weiss (no relation), chooses the perfect word in "confronting," as most of the television shows are confronting the stereotypes in the sense of fronting them as reality, and one show is confronting the stereotypes by defying them to some extent. I had high hopes for this article when Ms. Weiss called me for comment on the issue, and I believe she delivered.
