Transgender Law Center Holds Discussion of Trans Rights

The highly-regarded California-based Transgender Law Center held a discussion this week about its vital services. TLC legal help line, which aids over 1,400 people a year with information, support, and basic services. Employment and health care are chief concerns, not to mention vandalism, bullying, and resulting suicide. TLC Staff Attorney Matt Wood said that bullying in school against transgender teens is rampant. He said, “We need systematic policy changes, not the least of which is shelter discrimination.” He also noted that medical providers need to treat transgender patients with dignity and respect. “There is the promise of law versus the reality of acting upon it,” he said."
