Janet Mock's video portrayal of what it is like for transgender people being interviewed by the media is important not only for its demonstration of the invasiveness of boundaryless journalists, but also for its showing of what it is like to live as the constant subject of inspection, investigation and surveillance. It is for this same reason that even sensitive employers do not understand the pressures placed upon employees who transition on the job. It is not enough to have a training and say "we're behind ya, kid."
