Michigan Attorney General Says Sex Discrimination Statute Doesn’t ProtectTrans People

This Michigan Attorney General opinion confuses two ways of interpreting statutes to avoid giving rights to trans people. He says we must use the plain meaning of the word “sex.” Okay, obviously that precludes discrimination based on trans people’s sex. But then he says it’s not the plain meaning of the word “sex,” as we understand it, but how legislators presumably understood the word “sex” in an era when “woman” meant “homemaker.”
